      August 2024 Newsletter   The Summer Reading Program ends Tuesday, August 13!

See the following “Stay Tuned…” page for more information. The summer is almost over, and the summer reading program ends Tuesday, August 13! Earn raffle tickets to try to win a $10 Amazon gift card or a $10 gift certificate to Low’s Variety by reading and/or completing a Bingo board. The Memoir Writing Workshop for adults now includes creative writing starting this month! If you are a creative writer, feel free to join Lorraine Lindstedt and the rest of the group via Zoom from 6:30-8:30pm on Wednesday, August 14. This group meets on the second Wednesday of the month usually via Zoom. Our two town libraries – West Buxton Public Library and Berry Memorial Library – are hosting “One Book, One Community,” a community reading event. Check out a copy of Horse at either library. Read the book in 6 sections (1 section per month), answer the fifth set of discussion questions this month (chapters 37-45; pages 311-366), and write reviews for entries into a drawing for a gift card to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Join me for Story Time on Tuesday mornings from 10:30-11am. Listen to a story, sing some songs, enjoy some felt board fun, and participate in a craft. Stuffies usually make an appearance! *Note: there will be no story time on Tuesday, August 13 or Tuesday, August 20. Are you a crafting enthusiast? Join us for our Crafters Group on Sunday, August 4. Note: Sunday, August 18 from 1-3pm TBD. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect, share ideas, and work on a craft project. This group is drop-in and meets the first and third Sunday of every month.   If you would like to craft at another day and time other than Sunday, join me on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30-7:30pm. Note: “Bring-your-own-craft” night on Thursday, August 15 from 6:30-7:30pm is TBD. Try a challenge or free build from 1-3pm during Lego Club on Sunday, August 11 and Sunday, August 25. All ages are welcome. This group is drop-in and meets the second and fourth Sunday of every month. Thank you for your support and I hope to see you at the library soon. Upcoming Events Join Caroline for a story, songs, felt board, and a craft. Note: no story time on Tuesday, August 13 or Tuesday, August 20.     Now for memoir writers AND creative writers (adults only)!   Wednesday, August 14, 2024 Via Zoom 6:30-8:30pm Attend one or more workshops as desired. No experience needed. Spelling doesn’t count. No obligation to share unless you want to. The program this month – Thursday, August 15 – is TBD.   Bring whatever project you are working on to enjoy crafting with others. This program is on the third Thursday of each month.

August 18 is TBD.   This group is for all ages, and drop-ins are welcome.             LEGO Club A picture containing LEGO, toy Description automatically generated   LEGO Club meets the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 1-3pm.   This month, LEGO Club is on August 11 and August 25.   Drop-ins are welcome.   Take one of our LEGO challenges, make a design from “The LEGO Ideas Book,” or create your own design.   All LEGO creations stay at the library so there will be plenty of bricks for the next event. Caroline will display any creations on the windowsill next to the makerspace table until the next event. Monthly Calendar of Events
