Dear Wonderful Patrons, The summer is almost over, and the summer reading program ends Tuesday, August 15! Turn in your reading logs and/or Bingo boards by then to earn raffle tickets for a $10 Amazon gift card or a $10 gift certificate to Low’s Variety. Raffle winners will be drawn on Thursday, August 17. Join me for Story Time on Tuesday mornings from 10:30-11am. Listen to a story, sing some songs, enjoy some felt board fun, and participate in a craft. Try a challenge or free build during Lego Club on Sunday afternoons. All ages are welcome. Lego Club is from 1-3pm but you may arrive and leave at your leisure within this time frame. Feel free to join one or more Lego Clubs as your schedule allows. If you have thought about writing your memoir, join Lorraine Lindstedt at the memoir writing workshop next month. September’s workshop will be graciously hosted in person by one of the members, Melody, at her home on Wednesday, September 13 from 3:30-5:30pm. For more information, email Lorraine at lindcabin@gmail.com. See the following “Stay Tuned…” page for more information. Continue reading to hear the latest news and events from the West Buxton Public Library. Thank you for your support and I hope to see you soon at the library. Sincerely, Caroline Nickerson Library Director

Stay Tuned… Memoir Writing Workshop Wednesday, September 13 At the home of one of the workshop members, Melody 3:30-5:30pm Bring a snack to share
Begin with an Ice-Breaker: A game from days when car trips did not include electronic entertainment for children: “We’re going on a picnic, what will you bring?”
Then a 15 minute writing prompt, one of the following, or your choice: If you are the Mega Billions winner, what is your fantasy? Invite someone to dinner, past or present.
One of the member’s birthday messages lead the group to their next writing prompt: (pick one or more) Birthday Traditions How You Celebrate Birthday Remembrances
Melody is hosting two foreign exchange students who are writers and interested in meeting the group. The group thought stories about birthdays might be an interesting look at our culture.
Lorraine will attempt to include a zoom connection as well.  If you have experience in doing a hybrid meeting, any information will be appreciated.

Story time participants enjoyed decorating foam pirate swords and using the acrylic paint pouring technique to create their own coasters.
